1. Every negative experience is information-rich.
2. Global warming may turn out to be a neutral or good thing. Ice ages seem to come cyclically.
They may be triggered by volcanic action, impacts from outer space, nuclear weapons, or something else: however,
if the planet has warmed a bit, the temperature might drop less. Also, more warmth and CO2 should stimulate more
vegetation, producting more food, and consuming the CO2 that is part of the problem. If rising
ocean levels are such a problem, perhaps one day a way of storing the extra water in orbit can be devised.
It might even be a mechanism for distributing water where it is needed in times of drought on earth.
3. Oddly, the 10 commandments don't really address lying or waste.
4. Consuming fewer calories corresponds with better health and longevity, assuming no real nutritional deficiencies.
I suspect that we are all born with an allotment of calories. When the calories are all consumed, your time is
up. Need further encouragement to lost those extra pounds? Pay attention. Hunger
is good. Food never tastes better. It actually feels physically good to be shedding pounds.
Kind of tingly.
5. God is many things to many people. God may or may not be a physical entity somewhere,
but God is a useful, beautiful, mysterious concept that embraces light, perfection, morality, life, death, energy,
and our collective concept our our own most best selves that can be imagined and aspired to.
6. Less government is better. This is because the public sector both hampers and bleeds resources from
the private sector which drives the economy. Modern tools now allow better citizen participation in government, and
referendum power at local, state, and federal levels of government would allow for better democratic control of government.
Liberals today often share the opinion that government could and should step in to address every problem that needs addressing,
and that business and wealth are somehow evil. This, and the fact that public school teachers, employees
of the government, tend to be strongly liberal for obvious reasons, and they have great influence on the minds of children.
7. When baffled by events, things can often be explained in terms of where the money goes.
